Doha to Sydney: planning the long haul
The journey from Qatar to Sydney is long-haul. Some routes are direct and others stop on the way, so please check your own ticket for the schedule. We do not comment on airline timetables, because they change.
Qatar uses UTC+3 all year. Sydney is on UTC+10 in Australian winter and UTC+11 in daylight saving time, which usually runs from October to April. Sydney is therefore about 7 hours ahead in winter and about 8 hours ahead in daylight saving time. A night on the plane and a big time change is a lot, so a calm arrival helps.
Landing at T1 and clearing the border
International arrivals come into Terminal 1. You pass immigration, collect your bags and go through biosecurity. Australian biosecurity is strict, so declare food, plant material and similar items honestly on your card.
Your driver waits in the arrivals area. If the flight is delayed, we see the new landing time from your flight number and the fixed fare does not change.
Choosing the right vehicle
A student starting a degree usually brings more than a holiday traveller. A Premium Sedan such as a Lexus ES, Camry or similar suits one or two people with up to two large bags and one carry-on. A Premium SUV such as a Kluger, Lexus RX, RAV4 or similar suits three large bags. A People Mover such as a Kia Carnival or similar suits four or more large bags, or bulky items.
If two students from the same city arrive together, book one larger vehicle and share the fixed fare between you.
A family member handling the booking
Parents, older siblings or guardians can book from Qatar. Add the student's flight number, arrival date and the full Sydney street address. Pay online by card through the secure link sent by SMS and email; your bank may convert the payment from Qatari riyal.
Send the confirmation to the student and, if a friend or relative will be in Sydney, to them as well.
Settling in during the first week
Many students spend the first days in short-term accommodation, then move into a permanent room. If you plan a second move, you can book a second fixed-fare trip in Sydney once you know the new address.
Use the first week to learn your public transport route to campus, set up a bank account and visit the campus before orientation begins.
Booking the departure at the end of term
For term-end departures, book from your Sydney address to T1. Give your flight time and choose a pickup with a comfortable buffer. International check-in usually opens well ahead of departure, so it is wise not to cut it fine.
Booking early also means you do not need to look for a taxi during a busy exam or holiday period.

We track your flight number. The driver adjusts to the real landing time, and the fixed fare stays the same.
How do I choose the right vehicle size?
Enter your true number of passengers and bags in the calculator and it will suggest a size. Vehicles are assigned by availability, so the make can vary, which is why we always say "or similar".
Can I book the trip home at the end of term now?
