What this service is, and what it is not

We book a taxi for you at a price fixed in advance. We do not provide medical care, clinical assistance or patient transport services, and we do not assess or advise on anyone's health. If you need a medically supervised ambulance or patient transport, please contact the appropriate health service.

Our drivers are professional and ID-visible, and vehicles are clean late-model Lexus or Toyota premium vehicles where available. The vehicle is assigned based on passengers and availability.

The run from the Illawarra

From Wollongong the route heads north along the M1 and Princes Motorway, then through the city fringe to Camperdown. It is around 80 kilometres, roughly 80 minutes in normal traffic, although the Mt Ousley descent and the inner-city approach can change that. For appointments, plan your pickup time with a comfortable margin and tell us your appointment time when you book.

There is also a Wollongong option to Randwick campus: see Wollongong to Randwick Hospital taxi.

Arriving at RPA

Royal Prince Alfred is on Missenden Road, Camperdown. It is a large campus with several buildings and entrances, so tell the driver which building or department you are heading to, as printed on your appointment letter. Ask the hospital where drop-off is best for your appointment, because we cannot advise on hospital access arrangements.

Cabcharge accepted

We accept the Cabcharge issued to home-care, NDIS and DVA clients who pay by Cabcharge. If your provider or support coordinator has issued you a Cabcharge card or docket for transport, present it to the driver on the day. We are not a registered NDIS provider and we do not lodge claims. Your provider or the relevant agency handles any reimbursement.

Family and carers

A carer or family member is welcome to travel with you. Tell us how many are in your party and about any bags, aids or equipment, so we can assign a vehicle with enough space. A premium SUV (Kluger, Lexus RX, RAV4 or similar) or a people mover (Kia Carnival or similar) may suit if there are extra people or items, subject to availability. If you need wheelchair-accessible transport, ask when you book, and we will confirm what can be arranged.

Questions

Before you book

Are you a medical or patient transport provider?

No. We are a fixed-fare taxi booking service. We do not provide medical care or patient transport services and make no clinical claims.

Do you accept Cabcharge?

Yes. We accept the Cabcharge issued to home-care, NDIS and DVA clients who pay by Cabcharge. We are not a registered NDIS provider and do not lodge any claims for you.

Can my carer travel with me?

Yes. Tell us the number of passengers when booking so the vehicle has enough room.

Can you wait during my appointment?

Waiting arrangements depend on availability and are agreed when you book. Ask when requesting your fare.

Is a 12-hour minimum hold relevant?

Regional bookings outside Greater Sydney can carry a 12-hour minimum hold, which we confirm when quoting.

Is this the same as a silver service taxi?

No. We are Sydney Fixed Fare Taxi, an independent booking service. We are not affiliated with any silver service taxi co-operative. Some customers look for a silver service style ride, meaning a clean, well-presented car and a professional driver, and want the price locked in before they travel instead of watching a meter. That is the alternative we offer.
