Newcastle and the Hunter to Royal Prince Alfred

Newcastle to RPA Hospital taxi — fixed fare, quoted on request

A specialist appointment at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital can mean a very early start from the Hunter. Sydney Fixed Fare Taxi is a fixed-fare taxi booking service, so your fare is confirmed in writing before pickup. We are not a medical or patient transport provider.

A booking service, not a health service

We book a taxi at a fixed price. We do not deliver medical care, health advice or patient transport services, and we make no clinical claims. For anything that needs medical supervision, contact your care team or the appropriate health service.

The distance from Newcastle

Newcastle to Camperdown is a run of roughly 160 kilometres, often two and a half hours or more depending on the M1, roadworks and inner-city traffic. Because morning appointment times are fixed, we suggest telling us your appointment time and the Newcastle, Maitland or Lake Macquarie address you are leaving from, so the pickup can be planned with room to spare.

If you also travel to the airport from Newcastle see Newcastle to Sydney Airport taxi.

Why a fixed fare helps on a long run

On a metered trip of this length, the total is hard to predict, particularly with variable traffic near the city. A fixed fare is agreed first, so the person paying, whether that is you, a family member or a provider, knows the cost ahead of the day. The fare is quoted individually for your pickup address and confirmed in writing.

Around Royal Prince Alfred

RPA is on Missenden Road in Camperdown, next to the University of Sydney. It has multiple buildings and entrances, so use the building or department on your appointment letter when you give us the drop-off point. Please check with the hospital about the best set-down point for your appointment, as we cannot advise on hospital access.

Cabcharge accepted

Where relevant, we accept the Cabcharge issued to home-care, NDIS and DVA clients who pay by Cabcharge. We are not a registered NDIS provider and we do not lodge claims. Your provider or agency handles reimbursement. See our Cabcharge page for more.

Travelling with someone

A carer or relative can come with you, and a group with bags, walking aids or other equipment may need a bigger vehicle: a premium SUV (Kluger, Lexus RX, RAV4 or similar) or people mover (Kia Carnival or similar), subject to availability. Ask about wheelchair-accessible options when you book.

Planning the day around an appointment

Because this is a full-day round trip for many people, it helps to think through the whole day. Eat and take any usual items before you leave, pack your appointment letter, referral and any cards you need to show, and keep your phone charged. We cannot advise on medical preparation, so follow the instructions from your hospital or doctor.

If your return time is uncertain, you can book the trip home separately once you know when you will be finished. Each leg is quoted as its own fixed fare. If someone else is helping with the cost, such as a family member or a provider, we can send the fare details to them on request.

Booking service only. Sydney Fixed Fare Taxi is a fixed-fare taxi booking service. We are not a medical or patient transport provider, we make no medical claims, and we are not a registered NDIS provider. We accept the Cabcharge your provider issues.
Questions

Before you book

Are you a medical transport service?

No. We are a fixed-fare taxi booking service and do not provide medical or patient transport services.

Can you pick up from Maitland or Lake Macquarie?

Yes. Enter your pickup address and we quote a fixed fare from there.

Do you accept Cabcharge?

Yes, we accept the Cabcharge issued to home-care, NDIS and DVA clients who pay by Cabcharge. We are not a registered NDIS provider.

Can I book regular appointments?

Ask when you request your fare. Recurring bookings can be arranged subject to availability.

Is this the same as a silver service taxi?

No. We are Sydney Fixed Fare Taxi, an independent booking service. We are not affiliated with any silver service taxi co-operative. Some customers look for a silver service style ride, meaning a clean, well-presented car and a professional driver, and want the price locked in before they travel instead of watching a meter. That is the alternative we offer.
