Leaving campus for a flight

International students at Wollongong often travel with far more than a carry-on: two large suitcases, a backpack and boxes of things to store or ship home. Trains and buses work for light travellers but are hard going with that load. A pre-booked car picks you up at your address near campus and takes you to the departures kerb at your terminal.

Where we pick up

Give us your street address. Students live in Keiraville, Gwynneville, Fairy Meadow, Coniston and the city centre, as well as on campus accommodation. If you are meeting the car at a residence, give the building name and the best gate, so the driver does not circle.

How much time to allow

The trip to the airport is roughly an hour and a quarter in normal traffic. Add the time you want at the terminal before check-in closes. Exam-period and end-of-session weekends are busy on the roads, so aim to leave earlier than you think you need to and tell us your flight time.

Big bags and shared rides

Suitcases decide the vehicle. A premium sedan (Lexus ES, Camry or similar) fits one or two people with light bags. Two or three large suitcases usually need a premium SUV (Kluger, Lexus RX, RAV4 or similar). A group of friends heading to the airport together, or oversize items, suits a people mover (Kia Carnival or similar). The vehicle is assigned by passengers, luggage and availability. Sharing with flatmates and splitting the fixed fare is often the easiest way to keep the per-person cost down.

Book before you are stressed

Booking earlier than you think you need to is the best advice we can give. We send the fixed fare to your phone and email, and a secure payment link confirms your ride. No meter, no surge pricing, and no last-minute hunt for a car on a public holiday weekend.

Checklist before you leave your room

Before the car arrives, check that you have your passport, boarding pass and any visa documents in your carry-on and not in a checked bag. Confirm your key return and rental bond arrangements with your landlord or accommodation office, because those tasks are easy to leave until the last minute.

If you are storing items over the break, do that a day early rather than on the morning of your flight. Bags you are leaving behind should not be counted in your luggage when you book. Tell us only what is travelling with you, so we assign the right car.

Regional 12-hour minimum hold. Bookings outside Greater Sydney are subject to a 12-hour minimum hold — the driver is dedicated to your run for that window, not racing back for another fare. Timing is subject to driver availability and we confirm it with you when quoting.
Independent service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or a partner of any university. Book early in orientation week and at the end of each session, when demand is highest.
Questions

Before you book

Are you affiliated with the University of Wollongong?

No. We are an independent taxi booking service. We are not a university partner, and the university does not endorse us.

Can I book a taxi from campus accommodation?

Yes. Give us the street address and building name, and any pickup instructions such as the reception or the best gate.

How many suitcases can I bring?

It depends on the vehicle. Tell us how many large bags you have and we assign a car with enough room, subject to availability.

Can I split the fare with friends?

The fare is for the car, not per person, so travelling together with the same destination is an easy way to share it.

Is this the same as a silver service taxi?

No. We are Sydney Fixed Fare Taxi, an independent booking service. We are not affiliated with any silver service taxi co-operative. Some customers look for a silver service style ride, meaning a clean, well-presented car and a professional driver, and want the price locked in before they travel instead of watching a meter. That is the alternative we offer.
